RGC & CCP Trials: An Exciting Step Towards Sustainable Construction

Real Green Concrete (RGC) is thrilled to announce its recent collaboration with Cornish Concrete Products (CCP), marking a significant milestone in its ongoing commitment to eco-friendly construction practices.

Collaboration and Testing:

Cornish Concrete Products (CCP) has collaborated closely with Real Green Concrete (RGC) to conduct trials of their sustainable and eco-friendly binder. Based on their different mix designs, CCP conducted tests on their C40/50 mix, with RGC’s material replacing 100% of the Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC).

Fresh Concrete Production and Slump Test:

A workable and highly flowable fresh concrete mixture incorporating RGC’s binder was successfully produced. Subsequently, CCP’s technicians conducted a slump test to ensure compliance with the S4 class slump requirements. Following this, 100mm x 100mm x 100mm cubes were cast and cured for early and later compressive strength tests at various stages.

Transport and Placing:

Dr Aissa Bouaissi, Chief Technology Officer of RGC, commented on the trial’s success, stating, “The concrete transported exceptionally well and was efficiently placed into the ‘Lego block’ mould without any issues. Our operatives provided positive feedback, with no noticeable differences compared to standard concrete. RGC’s material demonstrates exceptional user-friendly characteristics.”

Compaction and Surface Finish:

The concrete performed admirably within the mould, allowing for efficient compaction using a poker vibrator. The surface was expertly trowelled using a steel trowel, resulting in a smooth and dense finish.

Positive Results:

Daniel Burrows, Design & Technical Director of CCP, expressed his satisfaction with the results, saying, “We are thrilled to report that the test results have confirmed the suitability of RGC’s binder for inclusion in CCP’s non-structural product range, pending customer acceptance and further trials. We are excited about the future possibilities offered by this OPC replacement material.”

About Real Green Concrete:

Real Green Concrete is the brainchild of Dr Aissa Bouaissi, a chemical engineer with extensive experience in both academia and industry. Dr Bouaissi developed a chemical process that accelerates the concrete hardening process, distinct from the crystallisation and hydration process associated with OPC. This precisely controlled process can be tailored to meet various concrete application requirements and allows for the inclusion of a wide range of waste materials in the mix.
